Hospitality and Institutional Management

For a number of years, the Hospitality and Institution Management department was one of the sections in the Education Department under a section head. In June 2019 the department was established as an autonomous department. The core function of the department is to produce Technical Trainers at diploma level in Hospitality and Institutional management skill areas. These trainers find placements in the National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes, Secondary Schools, Vocational Training Institutes, Youth Polytechnics and also in private sectors. The department also organizes for Hospitality and Institutional Management related Short Professional Development Courses (SPDC) in the TVET sector. To achieve this goal the trainers are armed with pedagogical as well as technical skills in their trade areas.
The courses offered at KSTVET Hospitality and Institutional Management department are as follows:

  2. Catering and Accommodations
  3. Clothing Technology and Fashion Design
  4.  Nutrition and Dietetics
  5. Tourism Management
  6. Cosmetology and Hairdressing

We are devoted to fostering a culture of excellence through hands-on learning, professional development, and collaboration with industry partners to support our students in becoming effective technical trainers and responsible professionals.

We aspire to empower practicing and future technical trainers who will shape the learning sector and enhance the quality of service, while adapting to the evolving demands of the global market and contributing positively to their communities.

Our objectives

 To produce a new generation of technical trainers and educators who are well-prepared to fulfill the demands of the hospitality and
institutional management sectors.
 To empower trainees with essential knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values required to excel as competent and professional technical
trainers and educators in their field.
 To offer comprehensive professional development programs that enhance the capabilities and expertise of current and aspiring trainers
and educators.
 To foster research competencies among Technical Trainer and Teacher Trainees, equipping them with the skills to contribute to the
advancement of the hospitality and institutional management disciplines.
