Computer studies

Highlights
  • The Kenya School of TVET will have its 45th Graduation on 6th December 2024. All graduands are expected to be seated at 8:00 AM.

Background Information

The core function of the department is to produce Technical Trainers/Teachers at diploma level in the area of Computing. These trainers/teachers find placements in the National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes, Secondary Schools, Vocational Training Institutes, Youth Polytechnics and also in private sectors. The department also organizes for ICT related Short Professional Development Courses (SPDC) in the TVET sector.

Besides being an admitting department, the department also extends her services to the entire College. All students who enter the College gate must learn some form of ICT integration in their respective area of specialties.

To be a leading department in information technologies that prepares technically proficient computer studies trainers /teachers, technicians, technologists and information managers.

(b) Mission

To provide high quality education in information technologies in order to produce computer studies trainers/ teachers, technologically and professionally competent graduates for both public and private sectors.

Objectives

  • To produce technical trainers/teachers to meet the market demand.
  • To equip trainees with relevant knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, to enable them serve as professional technical trainers/teachers.
  • To integrate ICT in all the Technical Training programmes.
  • To develop research skills in Technical Trainer/Teacher Trainees.
