Course Descriptor

The purpose of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to communicate effectively with hearing-impaired persons. The course comprises six units namely; positive attitude towards hearing impairment, modes of communication for different hearing impairment, communication approaches used by hearing impaired person, principles of sign language and elements, finger spelling skills in communicating with hearing
impaired person, and signing skills in communicating with hearing impaired persons. In addition, the course will be offered both in-person and virtually. E-notes will be made available to allow individuals to practice at home.
